My name is Suzin Skyler Hein and I’m the owner of a ‘unique bead boutique’ called, Suzie Q Beads. Suzie Q Beads is located in a little bright orange and chartreuse (my favorite colours) house in the central Calgary historic neighborhood of Inglewood. The house was built in 1905 so, the character of an older building, plus the creative way I display all the beady delights, makes for an inspiring bead shopping experience!

I’ve been involved in the arts in some capacity all of my life, from my ‘craft girl’ beginnings, to attending art college, to owning/operating two successful picture framing stores for many years, to being a jazz-flavoured vocalist of national recognition. I love beads and combined with my ‘artsy’ background, it felt like a natural thing for me to open a bead store, so that’s what I did in June, 2002.

Passionately dedicated to fostering the ‘art’ of beading, my store offers a wide array of ever evolving beading technique classes, a large selection of beading books and beading supplies of supreme quality; Japanese seed beads, sterling silver beads, findings & wire, Czech pressed glass, vintage and semiprecious beads and more! My thinking is that most beadwork has a large time investment, so your piece should look it’s best with quality and distinctive materials.
